Ports, Drop Hatches, and Windows
Avcon offers a variety of camera and sensor port modifications for business jet and turboprop aircraft. Some of these modifications convert to drop hatches for search and rescue operations, and Avcon also offers replacement of cabin windows with optical glass for handheld camera operations.
Avcon installs single or dual camera mounting provisions (tandem cameras) for the King Air 200, 300, and B300 series under STC No. SA2429CE, with a third baggage-compartment camera port available under STC No. SA2428CE. Together the two STCs convert the King Air into a versatile mapping and survey platform. SA2429CE uses an optical glass window to maintain pressurization, and the glass can be removed for unpressurized, open-air operations.
Avcon offers structural mounting provisions for a single camera port with a sliding door and drift sight on the King Air 90 series, approved by STC No. SA1726CE. This installation supports most modern cameras, LIDAR, and scanners from major manufacturers, and is also approved for unpressurized, open-air operations with the optical glass pane removed.
Under STC SA01975WI, Avcon modifies the Cessna 208/208B (Caravan) with single or dual oversized sensor ports up to 27.5 by 25 inches, fitting the latest generation of mapping sensors. The FAA STC-approved modification includes wire routing and electrical provisions, with no material performance changes to the aircraft.
Avcon installs optical glass windows to enhance surveillance capabilities for cabin crew and equipment. STC No. SA2795CE covers the King Air 200, 300, and B300, and STC No. SA2788CE covers the King Air 90 series, both installing optical glass on the escape window or another desired cabin window.
